Rehearsals take place at the King Alfred School music department. Members are expected to be punctual to Saturday morning rehearsals. We set up at 9.30am and commence playing at 10am. We have a break between 11:00 and 11.15 for drinks and biscuits. Rehearsal ends at 12pm, although members are expected to stay until all stands and chairs are cleared away.

We are always happy to welcome musicians within the area to join our band. As a concert band, we can only accept wind players or percussionists, and welcome anyone from trumpet, trombone or euphonium players, to clarinet, saxophone and flute players.

We have no limits on age for new members to the band. Although, we do expect musicians interested in joining the band to have good sight-reading ability, and good knowledge and ability of playing their instrument.

As a long-running and well-established concert band, we have rules and regulations regarding uniform at both indoor and outdoor performances. We will supply a band t-shirt and jacket to all new members.
For all indoor concerts; black shoes, straight black trousers, a plain white shirt and black bow tie must be worn by all male band members. For the ladies; black shoes, black trousers/skirt and a white blouse. At outdoor performances, the band uniform is the black band t-shirt (and jacket in cold weather), along with black trousers and shoes.

For all indoor and outdoor concerts, stands will be supplied by the band under a checklist process. However, if members have a stand of similar size/style to that used by the band, it may be used. Banners will also be supplied by the band.
